Plastic Bags?

Some cities are now banning plastic grocery bags and forcing people to use alternative like canvas bags and the like. What about the little plastic bags that you would use to hold your broccoli or mushrooms? Well we found these alternatives to plastic bags (mesh ) at the following sites.

Reusable Bags - where they have a plastic bags used this year counter ( I wonder how accurate that is)

and

Blue Lotus - we discovered these in the hands of some locals at our local farmers market.

We are not sure yet how well these hold up to a washing machine or if they need to be hand washed.

Living Homes

One quick and easy way to green your town would be to replace all the homes with LEED certified prefabricated homes by Living Homes, http://www.livinghomes.net. I know that is a completely ridiculous idea and I am not seriously suggesting it.

Take a look at the concept, industrialized manufacturing of extremely earth frienly homes that will yield tremendous benefits to both the owner and the environment. Their site allows the browser to set up a custom house and even improve upon the LEED score of the home. Take it for a spin and see what you think. We tested out a home that came in just under $900,000, land not included.
